About Us
The founder of this company started in the background checking industry in
1994 as Chief Administrator for "ERS" in the Bay Area. Having a family of
my own and leaving them each day was the most difficult thing to do.
Eventually, I asked my family for help and started my own business.
Hence, Employment Background Information was born in 1996.
In 2001 Ms. Fastenau (founder) now a Mom of
2 girls, wife, volunteer mom at school and business owner found she needed a
mothers helper to assist her in watching over her daughters and helping with
errands during the P/T working hours she set for the business. This led
her to the “Nanny Search”.
"Finding the right person for my 2 babies was the hardest thing I had to do
besides having them. But I found an older woman who had 4 grown
daughters and grandchildren and she became apart of our family. My youngest started Pre School
and we didn't need her in that capacity anymore but she still makes time to see them,
takes them for lunch and has them over to play at her house. She still
babysits from time to time as well. We were
very lucky, but it took patience, time and a lot of work to find the right
person".
This
was an eye opening experience and made her
realize the great need for a service that cares more about the children and
families than the money. So she started a sister company to EBI
that specialize in

However, dealings with numerous Nanny Agencies from state to state became a
rude awakening in the lack of screening and attention these companies showed
for the safety and protection of its children and their families. Therefore,
the only referrals you find on this site are company's, in our opinion, that
do the right thing for the children. Our expertise in the screening
area is very important to the safety of our children. We do not work
with company's that do not take our suggestions in the proper search for
each applicant.

Anyone can call themselves a Nanny.
NANNY AGENCIES V.S. DO IT YOURSELF
You can either put out an ad in your local
penny saver or get a referral
from someone you know or use an "upstanding" Nanny Agency. Which ever way you choose you must perform
a full, extensive, intensive background check on this person.
Of course again, we need to say that the
sacrifices made to stay home with your own children is immeasurable.
However, in the cases where this is
impossible using a reputable Nanny Agency is faster than doing it yourself.
But can be costly. However, they do most of the work for you.

utilize data base searches to reduce costs. These searches are less than
39% accurate. We have physical
researchers in every county in the United States who physically retrieve our
court records to ensure the highest percentage of accuracy in the business.
We have designed a background check so extensive that targets specifically
people working with children and in the homes of others.
We share with you a method to help you find your own nanny at no cost with
our assistance. The cost lies in the background check only.
Now we are well aware of the financial gain to take the leap into the web
based computer age of Background Checks (databases). However, we decided it was not in
the best interest of our families. Taking this leap, though financially
beneficial, would leave much to be desired in the quality, ethics and
integrity of the information we retrieve about the person who will be apart of your daily life and your children’s lives. We physically retrieve
our criminal information from the courthouses and still give a quick turn
around time, usually within 72 hours. We take the road less traveled to help ensure the safety of our
children. That is the only thing that matters! The safety of our
kids!!
We not only retrieve this information but we compare it, research it and go
over it with a find tooth comb for any red flags or missing pieces but we
pull it all together for you in an easy to read report so you can get an
better picture of the person being considered.
We pull the Credit Report and the Social Security Report in combination with
the application/resume and compare all of the information.
Then we design a package to best target where to search your applicant.
Upon your approval we start the process and get it back to you within a 72
hour period. All with the exception of California State Trustline
Federal Background Check.
(3-6 month turn around time)
Trustline should NEVER be used in place of a full
background check. Trustline is a database that accesses Federal
fingerprinting indexes. It does not search State or County criminal
courts, Motor Vehicle, Credit, SSN or employment records.
TrustLine is California's registry of in-home child care
providers who have passed a background screening. It was created by the
California Legislature in 1987 and is a powerful resource for parents hiring a
nanny or baby-sitter or company's helping them with this search . All caregivers listed with TrustLine have been cleared
through a fingerprint check of records at the California Department of
Justice. This means they have no disqualifying criminal convictions or
substantiated child abuse reports on the Federal level in California.
TrustLine is administered by the
California Department of Social Services
and the non-profit
Child Care Resource and Referral Network.
It is endorsed by the California Academy of Pediatrics.
TrustLine is unique. It is the only background check
authorized by state law to use three databases that the general public,
including private investigators and private background check companies, cannot
access. These databases include fingerprint records from the California
Department of Justice Criminal History System; the Child Abuse Central Index
of California; and fingerprint records of the FBI Criminal History System.
People who state they are Nannies by trade need to be
register with Trustline. This records follows them throughout there
career where ever they go in the State of California.
Again, we believe that staying home with your children is the best and most
advised way to better bring up our children, whatever the sacrifices!! They
